Early summer at the palace.
There’s a certain dream that has lived quietly in my mind for years. It’s the feeling of slipping away to a quiet garden, spreading a blanket by a pond, and spending the afternoon with friends while the world moves slowly around you.
A fan moving lazily in the warm air.
A bouquet of fresh flowers gathered along the way.
A book opened in the shade.
A sleepy cat nearby, perfectly content.
Some paintings come together quickly, but others take time. They linger in the imagination, collecting little details and moods until one day they finally ask to be painted.
This was one of those paintings.
And while sometimes I paint things because I think others will enjoy them, this one was painted simply because it was a scene I wanted to live inside for a little while.
