Deep in the mountains near Gyeongju, an ancient ginkgo tree presides over a hanok and a stone wall worn smooth by centuries. When the light hits it just right, the whole tree seems to shimmer, gold, quiet, otherworldly. It's the kind of place that feels like a secret, far from the roads and the noise, where you can stand beneath branches older than memory and just be still. This painting is my attempt to hold onto that feeling: the hush of the mountains, the impossible size of the tree, the way the light turns everything to gold.
